Support the Natural Shape of your Body with the Purchase of an Adjustable Bed

By Gary Page Sleep is necessary for the human body to function properly and often its difficult to wake feeling rested and refreshed from your evening slumber. Choosing the right bed is very important and can determine the type of rest obtained during your normal sleeping hours. Retailers have several options available to the public for purchase and one of which is the adjustable bed. Adjustable beds support the bodys natural shape; therefore, sleep is more likely and the body wakes feeling rested. These beds allow you to alter the sleeping position. At the touch of a button, you can adjust the bed into several positions and find the position thats just right for you, where as the conventional mattress requires you to place pillows behind you to prop you up, or under the knees to relieve pressure from your back. It simply takes more effort to obtain a comfortable position. Adjustable Beds allow you to face the coming day feeling rested and refreshed. That is a far more positive experience than waking with that achy feeling you get from lack of sleep. Many people who own an adjustable bed enjoy its functions because its simply more relaxing when they want to watch TV or maybe even read a good book. The ability to naturally sit in the reading position allows relaxation to come easily and its like having a comfortable recliner right in your bedroom. At times theres nothing more relaxing than a good book right before you fall asleep or the ability to relax while you watch your favorite TV show. Many combinations can help relieve stress and discomfort from back problems. Often the adjustable bed manufacturers place their focus on the fact that these beds can be adjusted to a persons natural shape and promote healthy circulation. Maybe you prefer sleeping at a slight incline, with the upper body slightly higher than the lower; or you prefer to add some support to your knees as to bend them slightly at an angleits merely a matter of preference. People who suffer from back problems have to be especially careful when choosing the bed they sleep on. It is important to keep in mind the type of mattress, paying close attention to its firmness or lack there of, as well as keep in mind the beds over all ability to support the human body while it sleeps. Often people who have had back surgery or suffer from other back conditions find comfort sleeping in a recliner because the position relives pressure from the afflicted area. Many people with such ailments opt for an adjustable bed. Though no real research exists supporting the fact that the adjustable bed is best for such conditions, it is thought that the beds ability to support the natural flow of the body provides some relief. Adjustable beds are often a great asset to the elderly. Hospitals and nursing homes purchase adjustable beds for every day use for their patients because it allows patients to get in and out of bed easily. In home use of the adjustable bed reaches the same result. Whether you are someone who suffers from a back condition, have had back surgery, or are simply searching for a great nights rest, it is a reasonable consideration to consider purchasing an adjustable bed. Great Relationships: What to Do When You Have Drifted Apart

By Jeff Herring Picture, if you will, the following scene: A man and woman, somewhere in the great expanse of middle age, walk into a sandwich shop and sit down. They don’t speak to each other. They do speak to the waiter when he comes to take their order. And this is the last time they speak, to each other or anyone else, the entire hour they are there. They each have a book, and they proceed to get lost in reading and eating. Now maybe they had just heard some bad news, or were the parents of 12 kids, hired a sitter and needed some peace and quiet. Maybe. But the feeling you get is that they really have nothing to say to each other. They just look bored. It’s a sad scene. How does something like this happen? You know there must have been a time when there were not enough words for all they wanted to say to each other. I bet there was a time when they could talk all night. How does a couple get from those early days of falling in love to falling into the rut of boredom? I have found that people slowly drift out of love. If it happened all at once, they would be able to react and change. Because it happens slowly, over time, the process just sneaks up on couples. It’s like the story of the frog in hot water: If you put a frog into a pan of boiling water, he’ll do his very best to hop right out. But if you put a frog in a pan of water at room temperature and slowly increase the temperature to a boil, he’ll stay put until it’s too late. According to Florida State University psychology professor Dan Boroto, “The process of falling out of love is the direct result of undisclosed communication.” What that means is that couples no longer talk about feelings, hopes and dreams. The things left unsaid can vary from not really liking carrots, even though your spouse thinks it’s your favorite food, to not talking about how lonely you are. If you recognize your relationship here, it doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily over. Here are things you can do to begin to restore communication: Talk. I know that sounds too simple, and I guess I could make it harder, but that really is where it begins. Take a risk and begin to talk about issues that may have been difficult in the past. Recall the times you were able to talk with each other and simply repeat what you did then. Ask questions. Become curious about your partner’s world. Begin with, “Can we talk about …?” Schedule times to be together and talk. Many couples I know who do this say it gives them something to look forward to when life gets stressful. If you find you can’t break the logjam yourself, it might be time to sit down with a counselor or attend a seminar to give you a jump start. While couples seem to drift apart without knowing it, to grow back together again takes conscious attention and intention. Take some time in the next week to re-establish communication in your relationship. It might make all the difference in the world. Anyone Can Do It – Simple and Inexpensive Practice Marketing Tips

By Mark Merenda One of the requests I hear from time to time goes something like this: “Never mind the philosophy, never mind the talk about ‘branding, ‘centers of influence’ and ‘the buying experience,’ just give me a few, low-cost, anyone-can-do-it marketing tips for financial professionals.” Okay, here you have it. Note cards Every Monday morning, have your assistant put a stack of 50 fold-over note cards on your desk. Your task is to write a quick, one- or two-sentence note on each card and then send out all 50 cards that week, 10 per day. You should send the cards out to anyone and everyone. These include fellow professionals and referral sources, your clients, old clients who haven’t heard from you in years, prospective clients, the person you saw in the elevator last week, your minister or priest, to anyone you’d like to meet and to anyone you recently met. Take this a step further. Go and buy a copy of your local newspaper. In the business section there is usually a page or so devoted to announcements–who has been appointed, who has been promoted, who received an award, who attended an event, etc. Send every one of these people a note. 2,600 personal touches Back in the 1960s, a car salesman in Detroit was something of a legend in the world of automobile sales. One year, he made $200,000, at a time when the chairman of General Motors was earning a salary of $125,000. When interviewed about his outstanding success, very little about him seemed remarkable. One of his habits seemed strange, however. Every month he sent out 13,000 postcards. Each one said the same thing: “I like you.” Asked why he did this, he replied, “I just want folks to know I like ‘em.” If you send out 50 cards a week, you will send out 2,600 cards each year. That’s 2,600 personal touches that will give someone an overwhelmingly positive impression of you. Many will mention it or show it to someone else. You do the math. Weekly cost: about $25 in cards and postage. If you send out 50 cards a week, you will send out 2,600 cards each year. A warm welcome Have a welcome sign in your lobby. In the financial services industry, you are in the relationship business. Your relationship with your clients and potential clients begins in earnest when they step through your door. A welcome sign demonstrates the importance you place on your relationship with that client or prospect, your attention to detail, and the courtesy each person can expect from your entire organization. At Smart Marketing, we welcome each of our visitors with a simple sign that can be purchased at most office-supply stores for less than $85. Hundreds of times every year we hear, “That sign makes me feel so special.” For a few dollars and very little effort, you can demonstrate your commitment from the very first moment you meet with someone, and for each visit thereafter. Cost: $85 plus a few pennies for paper and ink. A special gift Print a gift certificate. Make sure it’s graphically impressive. Many of my clients use one that looks like a dollar bill, but you can make it in any denomination you want. The gift certificate entitles the potential client to a one-hour planning session (or consultation, or evaluation). Whenever the opportunity presents itself–at a seminar or a networking event, or simply when you meet a prospect–give him a gift certificate. However, I suggest you write two things on the certificate: the person’s name (the certificate is nontransferable), and an expiration date (usually in three weeks). This is because you are giving a workshop next month and all your available free consultations soon will be taken. The gift certificate helps you overcome a number of challenges. First, one of the biggest obstacles of marketing a professional service is that the service is invisible and intangible. The gift certificate gives form to something you do, something you offer. Another problem you usually face is procrastination on the part of the client. The gift certificate creates a perceived shortage (of your time) and a sense of urgency (he has to use it in the next three weeks). It capitalizes on those two great human motivators–fear (“I might lose out if I don’t make the appointment”) and greed (“I can get a $500 planning session for no cost.”). Finally, the certificate helps you create an emotional bond that is far more important than any demonstration of expertise. People do not perceive the certificate as a sales effort; they see it as a gift. Cost: $68 for 200, four-color gift certificates. How To Attract Girls

By Mike Pirie Okay guys, here it is. The low down on how to attract girls, especially that beautiful girl of your dreams. Have you ever found yourself searching for the right words, the courage and the nerve to walk up to a girl and say “Hello”? Whether you have those types of problems or desire the skills to make a change in the type of girls you want to attract, keep reading. Speaking from experience, smells are an instant aphrodisiac. If you smell good and your breath is pleasant, you will attract girls like a doe to a buck during mating season. Have you seen those Axe body spray commercials? We all transmit a natural pheromone to send messages to the opposite sex. Use this to your advantage by putting on cologne or body spray to attract that lovely girl. If you think that smelling like a real man means sweaty body odor fresh from the gym, you are sadly mistaken. Remember her nose will be attracted and aroused by you before words are spoken, so don’t go cheap on that scent, she will remember that smell and associate it with you, so make it good. I know it’s said a million times but communication is key. Being able to have a conversation with a girl isn’t always easy. Don’t forget that you haven’t got the girl yet, so to attract her it is essential to make a good first impression. Having the ability to hold and keep a conversation will give her the sense that you are open and approachable. Attracting a girl can happen anywhere, even the most unexpected place or time so be on your toes. Having a warm and inviting aura will make it easy for a girl to walk up to you, or make her more accepting and open when you approach her. What you say and how you say it could mean the difference between a good night kiss or a slap in the face. Once you have open communication you have to keep it going. In the initial meeting remember to ask her questions about herself. Don’t brag about your muscles or about all the time you spend at the gym. She will interpret this as you not having the time or any real interest in her. If you are not a doctor, don’t say you are. If you didn’t read any masterpieces of world literature then don’t say you have. Nothing is more embarrassing then having her say something like, “Oh really, me too!” Trying to impress someone for that moment will only catch up to you later. This will leave the impression that you were less then truthful, making your first impression a lie in her eyes. You are sending the signal that you are interested in her and you do that by asking her about what she does, things that she likes and finding the common interests that you have. Whatever you do, don’t walk around with that neon sign blazing on your forehead that you’re all about sex. That sign will be like a force field and repel girls far and wide. You want to attract girls, respect that she will want to know you first before she dives into bed with you. There are things you can do to let her know you’re up for that option and that is to pay her compliments. Someone once told me that guys need sex to feel good, but girls need to feel good to have sex. Girls like the feeling of anticipation so don’t call her every hour on the hour. Let her return your calls as well. Drop hints about making plans over the weekend to do something special. Its the small things that will help to win her over. Look at the body language that a girl shows to tell you she’s interested. She’ll give you quick glances with a small smile. She’ll tilt her head to one side and brush her off her shoulder. She positions herself in a space that will allow you the opportunity to approach her. She may make eye contact frequently with you, bite her bottom lip and giggle insatiably. She might fidget more and play with her necklace or earrings for example. If she is sitting, she will sit up straight and cross her legs in your direction. Notice when she runs her fingers threw her hair or caresses her glass. Petting the glass, like running her finger out the edge of the glass or stroking it up and down with her finger. These are signals she is sending straight to you. There are many more ways and advanced techniques to attract girls and these few will give you a great head start. If at first you don’t succeed, try again. There is a girl out there waiting for you to find her. Good luck! Vegetarian Gardening in Tropical Climates

By Michael Russell Perhaps the best way to have a healthy, vegetarian diet is to grow as much of your own food as possible. This ensures that you know that no insecticides have been used on the plants. You are also able to grow particular favorites which are not available in the local market. Vegetarians in the tropics or almost-tropics are presented with both a tremendous opportunity for a bonanza of healthy crops as well as a challenge. Anyone who is accustomed to having glorious vegetable gardens in northern regions will initially find that warm-climate gardening can be challenging. Many transplanted gardeners give up in frustration after a few failed attempts. However, your southern garden can surpass the one you left behind, but it requires rethinking how and when you plant. You need to know when, how and what to plant. Instead of one crop a year, two are now possible. You can have both a spring and fall/winter harvest. The key is timing. You can check with your local County Extension Service or local Garden Club for advice. You can also notice when the commercial growers plant their fields. Chatting with growers selling produce at a local farmer’s market can also be helpful. A local garden supply store may also be a good source of information. In regions such as central and southern Florida, summer is the hardest time to grow vegetables. It’s too hot and humid, stressing plants and increasing disease and insect problems. Many commercial growers leave their fields fallow during summer months. Your best chance at success is to follow the same planting schedule as the growers who do it for a living. Next take a hard look at your soil. If it is very sandy, with few plant nutrients. You will need to add organics to the soil (composted manure). The sandy nature of the soil causes the organics dissipate, so add more as needed. A good organic vegetable fertilizer will also be very helpful. Nematodes may also be a problem. They are parasitic, microscopic roundworms which attack the roots of plants. While they do not normally kill the plants, they do cause stunted growth and decreased yields. The most effective treatment is simply leaving the ground fallow (unplanted) between crops. Without a food source, the number of nematodes in the soil decreases dramatically. Knowing what to plant is also critical to growing a flourishing garden. Seeds for seed crops (radishes, carrots, lettuce etc.) can be obtained either locally or from online suppliers. Generally, the online seed suppliers will have a greater variety. It’s important to look for varieties designed for your region. You will find lettuces that will tolerate more heat without bolting, root crops more nematode-resistant and tomatoes, peppers and eggplants more resistant to various diseases. A sturdy plant adapted to the region will be able to provide a bountiful crop and be less bothered by insect pests. Getting the plants that you set out (tomatoes, peppers and eggplants especially) can be more challenging. Local garden suppliers are more likely to have them available for planting at the right time for your local region. They are also more likely to have varieties adapted for the local area. Chain suppliers are less likely to be a good source for varieties adapted to the local climate and may not have them available at the best time to plant. Growing your own plants from seed is a good choice. You can have the most fabulous garden you have ever had, with the most luscious tomatoes, abundant peppers, glossy eggplants, large leafy greens and herbs and flowers blooming almost all year. You can have those specialty crops that you never see in the market for the most delicious vegetarian meals you have ever enjoyed. Michael Russell Your Independent Vegetarian guide. Sweet Sixteen Party: Feeling All Grown Up And Celebrating It!

By Gail Leino When planning a sweet sixteen party, you must first decide if you plan on surprising your child, or if you want to enlist her help. Every sixteen year old is different, and I believe asking your child to help plan the party, is the best way to be sure that this party is every bit the milestone birthday it deserves to be. Should you decide to make this a surprise party, I suggest you ask one of your childs friends (that you can trust to keep the secret) to help with planning and suggestions. Most of us remember turning sixteen, and our sweet sixteen party, as the time we began to grow up, and feel more adult, but it is also a time when the emerging adult, and the remnants of the child, are constantly at odds with one another. Remember that feeling is the inspiration for a great sweet sixteen party. To plan a sweet sixteen party, I suggest developing a co-ed guest list, buying each guest a disposable camera as a party favor (so they can share photos of this special night) renting a limo, and letting your child and her friends dress up, and go to a nice restaurant of their choice (paid for in advance). After dinner, the limo could drop off the male guests at their homes, and then your daughter and her female friends could return home for a sleep over. This type party should satisfy the girl your child still is, and the woman she is becoming. The sleep over should include a birthday cake, snacks, plenty to drink, chick flicks, and music, music, music! The morning after the sleep over, a simple buffet of donuts, bagels and cream cheese, fruit, cereal, milk, and juices, should provide enough nourishment to satisfy each hungry girl, until they return to their homes, so everyone can enjoy a much needed nap, dreaming of this wonderful sweet sixteen party. An Introduction To Free Dating Services

By Richard Romando It is difficult to classify a genre like social networking. Although, apparently, all dating sites are about social networking at some level, some sites (e.g., MySpace.com) allow users to interact with friends, and provide access to music and games. This enables users to chat with their friends, besides finding compatible mates. Also, social networking sites, by and large, do not charge anything. According to research analysts, this is sure to give traditional online dating sites a run for their money. Free online dating services help people meet their dream mate through the use of the Internet. SocialGrid (a decentralized social networking community that uses Internet search engines like Google and Yahoo) and SearchYourLove (offers internal messaging service) are two popular free online dating service providers. By becoming a member of one of these sites, it is possible to extend the users social network by searching the Net for people with similar interests, goals, desirable traits, and characteristics. The service providers let their members do this for free. The catch, however, is that most services will be free until they reach a certain size; after that they start charging for their services. Once they start charging, the membership growth slows down, and thereafter these services have to advertise to acquire new members in order to survive. The longer a company can hold out without charging membership fees, the larger its membership base will be, which in turn results in an increase in the number of quality matches. Free dating sites usually mean free to join or free to register. However, the user is charged for services such as contacting a member, using a detailed search, or searching outside the social network. A dating service that is just launched may offer everything for free until it reaches a few thousand or million members; that is when it starts charging. However, there are some online dating service sites also that remain free always. With such sites, the users can join for free, contact a member for free, use detailed searches for free, and search the entire membership base for free. Some sites also publish materials containing web dating, relationship and flirting tips, and advice on how to behave in different situations. Dating Services provides detailed information on Dating Services, Online Dating Services, Christian Dating Services, Free Dating Services and more. Dating Services is affiliated with Gay Dating Personals. The Reluctant Reference-Giver

By Liz Ryan The days are long gone when managers felt free to sit on the phone for half an hour, providing an in-depth job reference for a former colleague or subordinate. These days, HR departments are cracking down on renegade reference-givers, restricting references to the basic facts of job title, start date and ending date. The good news is that managers are off the hook when it comes to providing job references for former subordinates or co-workers IF they (the managers) still work for the employer. But when a former workmate asks you to give a reference, and you don’t feel all that comfortable, and you don’t have the excuse “HR won’t let me” because you no longer work for the same company, what do you do? Now, it goes without saying that we like to help our former colleagues as they seek new opportunities. There’s nothing more fun than singing the praises of a former workmate and knowing that you’re helping him or her get a great job. But what about the case when you don’t feel so comfortable? Amazingly, people will ask you for references who really should know better. Perhaps you and this fellow never saw eye to eye, or perhaps you gave him a poor job review, or even fired him! Nonetheless, he gives your name as a reference, and the phone rings. How do you deal? Here’s how. You say, “Ah, yes, I remember Neal. But I’m not a great reference, because I didn’t supervise him closely” [or, if that's not true, "because although I remember him as a nice guy, I don't have a terrific recollection of his work"]. If you were caught unaware, poor Neal can’t really be angry at you for begging off. It’s much better than giving him a bad reference – I wouldn’t do that, no matter how negatively you feel about Neal’s work. Here’s one other choice, but it only works for written references. (They’re strictly tongue-in-cheek, of course.) “In my opinion, you will be lucky if you can get this employee to work for you.” or “I can recommend this candidate with no qualifications whatsoever.” Good luck! Liz Ryan is a former Fortune 500 HR executive, workplace expert and CEO of the global online network WorldWIT. She lectures internationally on the new-millennium workplace, networking, and work-life issues. Liz lives in Boulder, Colorado. College: A Primary Option or A Backup Plan

By Andre Bias College is supposed to aid people at getting a good job and becoming successful. Hence, for most that go to college it is their primary option to use that knowledge to get a job. Owning a business to most that go to college is a secondary option that some only consider pursuing if they need extra money or dont feel they are getting enough out of their degree. It seems as though college is becoming more of a secondary option these day. A lot of people that I know are looking at college as a backup plan. They start businesses with the thought that if it does not work out, they can always go out and get a job. That seems like a smart way to view the situation as it is rare for a person to become wealthy by working for someone. Most of the wealthy individuals in the United States have obtained their wealth from owning their own business or by dabbling in real estate. Another issue is the fact that even with an education some people still have a difficult time getting a good job. It is always good to have a backup plan for the things you do because things dont always go as you would like them to go.
